Due to recent changes at the venue, the Wintersleep and Elliott BROOD show originally scheduled to be at Oxygen Nightclub has been moved to iRock (415 Elmwood Drive) on Friday, Oct. 19
Together for 10 years, Wintersleep returned with its fifth album Hello Hum in June of this year. In the summer of 2011, the band regrouped with Scottish producer/friend Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai) and Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT) at the legendary Tarbox Road Studios in upstate New York. The result is 11 new tracks, including the first single "In Came The Flood."
"Wintersleep's fifth album sounds massive... a driving mix of mind-spinning psychedelic sounds that are sensitive to the Halifax band's poetic, singer/songwriter-informed tunes." – NOW Toronto
Elliott BROOD's 2011 release Days Into Years is the band's third full-length album, following up their 2008 Polaris Music Prize shortlisted record Mountain Meadows and 2006's JUNO-nominated Ambassador. Recorded with co-producer John Critchley at Green Door Studios in Toronto and Avening Town Hall in rural Ontario, Days into Years amps up their unique brand of roof-raising rhythm stomp while mandolin collides with harmonies, piano and, for the first time, electric guitar.
"...it is the quality of the song writing that takes centre stage. The group's sound has broadened and mellowed on their third full-length album, but all in the service of melodically and lyrically rich material." – Exclaim.ca
